Our national team will practice in a new training center, which was set up specifically to train Belgian chefs in preparation for the Bocuse d’Or. Like athletes from the Olympic Games, top chefs cannot afford to overlook details when they want to get a medal at the Bocuse d’Or. Thanks to our partners, a kitchen has been installed that is an almost exact copy of the Bocuse kitchen where the Belgian team can devote themselves fully to their cooking skills. In this way, our laureates can prepare to perfection and nothing is left to chance.

COAHING TEAM-NICK BRIL
Nick Bril, chef of restaurant The Jane ** and August restaurant. Graduated from Ter Groene Poorte hotel school. Together with David Martin and Lode De Roover, he will assist the candidate and commis during their journey to the European and world finals.
COAHING TEAM-DAVID MARTIN
David Martin – With his restaurant La Paix **, located in the Brussels Region, he was named “chef of the year” by Gault & Millau in 2019.
His many travels have inspired the half-French, half-Japanese cuisine that characterizes him today, of which indisputable technical details and surprising flavors lie at the basis. David Martin is also the ambassador for our loyal partner “San Pellegrino”.
COAHING TEAM-LODE DE ROOVER
Lode De Roover, gained experience and knowledge in numerous renowned star businesses. Since 2013, he and his wife Barbara are the business manager of restaurant “Fleur de Lin”. After the victory of 2 national selections, a 6th place in the European and an 8th place in the world final he is ready to join the coaching team.
Barbara Dhondt, who also followed two of her husband’s participations from close by, knows exactly what the competition means. Little by little she also learns the organizational tricks of Ann regarding the Bocuse d’Or. This can only benefit and enhance the effect.
CHAIRMAN FERDY DEBECKER
Ferdy Debecker is our most recent medallist in the Bocuse d’Or World final. He’s also the chairman of the Bocuse Winners ànd Bocuse d’Or Belgium. Ferdy and his wife Ann Vermylen are the driving force behind Bocuse d’or Belgium. Together they operate star restaurant Eyckerhof* in Bornem.
Ann Vermylen, has taken on the coordinating role. This during the national edition as well as towards the European and world final. Thanks to Ann, everything runs smoothly, without a chef having to worry about everything that happens next to the kitchen in terms of organization.
HONORY PRESIDENT PETER GOOSSENS
Peter Goossens, who owns and operates star restaurant Hof van Cleve***, was president of the jury for the Belgian Bocuse d’Or Team until 2019. He assisted the team with advice and shared his incredible knowledge. We thank Peter for the collaboration!
