Created by Paul Bocuse in 1987, the Bocuse d’Or competition is now the largest gastronomic event in the world. A new edition takes place every two years. 24 countries from 5 continents send their best chefs to SIRHA – the world hospitality and food service event in Lyon- to represent their country in the world final. Top chefs as Régis Marcon, Yannick Alleno and Rasmus Kofoed have won the competition earlier on in their careers.

2017 – 2019 Chef Lode De Roover

Born 21st November 1983, Lode De Roover graduated from Hotelschool Ter Groene Poorte in Bruges in 2002. He gained experience in renowned star restaurants such as Comme chez Soi*** (Brussels), Lijsterbes*(Berlare), La Bergerie** (Namur), Kaatje bij de Sluis** (Netherlands), De Plezanten Hof* (Hamme) and Eyckerhof* (Bornem). In 2013 he started his own restaurant, Fleur de Lin. His life motto? “There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs.”

2017 – 2019 Commis Piet Vande Casteele

Piet Vande Casteele turned 21 24th November 2018. After abandoning his studies in fysiotherapy, Piet enrolls in the one-year course Cook/Waiter at Hotelschool Ter Duinen in Koksijde. During an extra year in Gastronomy he takes first place in the “Commis challenge Bocuse d’Or Belgium”. Lode De Roover being his mentor, Piet’s life motto is “Motivation never loses”.

2017 – 2019 Coach Jo Nelissen

Jo Nelissen participated in the 2017 world final of Bocuse d’Or with Peter Asaert and Michelle Boone. Later that year he became team coach to the National Culinary Team. Apart from the Bocuse d’Or team, he also coaches the Young Chefs Team. The latter won 2 silver medals in the Culinary Worldcup in Luxembourg in 2018.

Voorzitter Ferdy Debecker

Ferdy Debecker is our most recent medallist in the Bocuse d’Or World final. He’s also the chairman of the Bocuse Winners ànd Bocuse d’Or Belgium. Ferdy and his wife Ann Vermylen are the driving force behind Bocuse d’or Belgium. Together they operate star restaurant Eyckerhof* in Bornem.

2017 – 2019 President Peter Goossens

Peter Goossens, who owns and operates star restaurant Hof van Cleve***, was president of the jury for the Belgian Bocuse d’Or Team until 2019. He assisted the team with advice and shared his incredible knowledge. We thank Peter for the collaboration!

2019 – 2021 President Nick Bril

None other than Nick Bril was elected president of the jury for the Belgian Bocuse d’Or Team. Together with a team of top chefs he will offer his advice to all Belgian candidates.
